Galashiels and Langlee Community Council’s Gala in Bloom group – together with Galashiels Chamber of Trade – held their annual award presentations in Old Gala House on Saturday.

The awards acknowledge the quality of gardens attached to residential and commercial properties throughout the town, and also commercial frontages and allotments.

Results – best private garden floral display – 1, Mr N. Miller. 18 Craigpark Gardens; 2, Mr J, Telfer, 28 Roger Quin Gardens; 3, Mr I. Hamilton 16 Balmoral Road; 4, Mr G. Tait, Duncraig Wylies Brae.

Best private gardens floral display (hard landscape) –1, Mr N. Hay. 48 Forest Hill; 2, Mrs J. Telfer, 32 Roger Quin Gardens; 3, Mr G. Millar, 38 Roger Quin Gardens.

Best commercial premises floral display – 1, Binnymyre Guest House; 2, Abbotsford Guest House; 3, Kingsknowes Hotel.

Best commercial frontage floral display – 1, Watson Lodge Guest House; 2, Wetherspoons; 3, Auld Mill.

The John S. Windram Memorial Trophy for best allotment – Mr D. Kellett, Wood Street; best floral display in residential complex for the elderly – Oakwood Park.
