THE Borders Barmy Army charity auction is now live and running until March 31.
With all proceeds going towards Macmillan Cancer Support as part of their kilted London Marathon appeal, the charity chums have procured a huge range of quality sporting memorabilia and other superb prizes well worth a bid or two.
Sporting lots include signed Manchester United and Rangers balls; a ball signed by four of Celtic’s legendary Lisbon Lions team; a signed and framed picture of Henrik Larsson scoring his last competitive goal for Celtic; a rugby top and ball signed by the Scottish rugby team; matchday tickets to a Hearts game and a pair of VIP tickets to a Berwick Rangers matchday, complete with the chance to meet the team and manager, a tour of the ground, seats in the directors’ box, half-time buffet and free drinks (apart from during the game, because of SFA rules).
Other lots include a cashmere cardigan; a pair of Gok Wan specs; four-ball vouchers for Duns, Hirsel and Selkirk golf courses, Radio 1 autographs and many more.
To bid on any of these, or any other lot in the auction, please visit www.bordersbarmyarmy.com
The Barmy Army lads are also holding a raffle, sponsored by Adam Purves’ garage – the first prize being £1,000 of fuel, with two runners-up prizes of £50 of fuel. This competition is also concluding on March 31. Tickets are £1 and are available through the website.
And if that wasn’t enough, the first weekend of April brings an action-packed weekend of fundraising, with a 10-hour sponsored treadmill run on April 2 in Tesco’s, Galashiels, then on the same night, they head to Jedburgh Castle Jail with the Esoteric Paranormal Group for a bit of spook-spotting between 10pm and 3am.
Finally, the hugely-popular BBA golf competition will take place at Monksford House, St Boswells, on April 3. The campaign will come to an end with a second BBA golf day at Monksford on Sunday, May 1.
Tickets are now available for both The Borders Barmy Army golf days and the paranormal night. Golf places are available at £25 per person per day and the paranormal night tickets are £30 – participants are also asked to try to raise £20 sponsorship.
