Borderers with health issues are embracing a programme established by Borders Sport and Leisure (BSL) and NHS Borders.

The LASS (Lifestyle Adviser Support Service) has helped dozens of people, many with weight-related health problems, discover the benefits of regular exercise through specially-tailored fitness sessions at Teviotdale and TriFitness gyms.

BSL’s health and wellbeing coordinator, Annabel Small, pictured, said: “We have men and women aged from 16 to 80 regularly taking part in our exercise sessions and for many this a major change as they have previously led relatively inactive lifestyles.”
