Anger over appointment

I went to Borders General Hospital last Thursday to attend an outpatients’ clinic.

Arriving at 9am to get parking space near the entrance, I went to get a paper and noticed a disgusting smell in the front waiting area. Elsewhere carpets had not been cleaned and one lift was dirty and had a cigarette stub stuck in a crevice.

My appointment time was 9.50am. There were plenty of staff in the area.

When I had not been called at 10.30am I informed the front desk and left as I had an urgent non-medical matter to attend to. A 40-minute wait is unacceptable, and I have waited much longer. I once found everyone had gone to lunch.

Borderers expect a clean, fresh hospital and an appointments system which does what it says on the tin.
