An idea to chew over

Have your say

Over the years I have noted that TheSouthern is usually at the forefront in support of the underpaid in Borders society.

Your report that councillors had defeated a motion to scrap free lunches costing £3,360 shows how far removed these elected members are from their constituents.

I wonder whether your paper might provide a lead at this time of such severe wintry weather? Might I suggest a fund to allow Borderers to show their appreciation of the roadmen who have worked tirelessly to keep our roads open and safe, and the home care workers who have shown such dedication to their elderly, vulnerable clients.

The sum of £3,360 springs to mind as a good starting contribution.
