A TOTAL of 161 riders took part in the annual rideout to Threepwood crossroads for the traditional meeting between the Lauder Cornet and Galashiels’ Braw Lad and Lass.

Lauder Cornet Gregor Ker, far left, and his Lass, Sally Middlemiss, second right, exchanged greetings with Braw Lad Ryan Mania and Braw Lass Nicola Mackay.

Of the mounted cavalcade, 116 riders were from Lauder and 45 from Galashiels, and they were greeted by a crowd of well-wishers. Among them was 1951 Lauder Cornet Jim Mackison, who flew from Australia for the event.

Medals were presented to the principals and Galashiels Town Band provided music for the traditional singing during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the gathering, the two parties rode into Lauder for a night of celebrations.
