WORK will start this winter on the latest phase of the Galashiels inner relief road project.
This will see Ladhope Vale and Bridge Place reverting to two-way traffic.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Borders Council said: “In combination these roads will then provide a route for through traffic to avoid the town centre and relieve congestion.”

The design team has been working closely with Transport Scotland because Ladhope Vale lies parallel to the route of the Borders Railway. The town’s railway station will be adjacent to Ladhope Vale and the plans are for an integrated rail, bus, car, taxi and pedestrian interchange.

And after the Ladhope Vale/Bridge Place work is in place, pedestrian improvements will take place in Market Street, Bank Street and High Street.
