TWO soldiers from the Royal Scots Borderers have been killed in Afghanistan.
They died in an explosion while on foot patrol near Sangin in Helmand province on Sunday.

The two have not yet been named but the Ministry of Defence said their families had been informed.

Lieutenant Colonel David Wakefield from the task force in Helmand said : "Two of our comrades have been cruelly taken from us, but their bravery and fortitude will not be forgotten."

The deaths take the UK military toll in Afghanistan since 2001 to 255 - the same number that died in the Falklands War of 1982.

The Royal Scots Borderers are the 1st Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

They were formed through an amalgamation of the Royal Scots and the King's Own Scottish Borderers.
