A GALASHIELS couple donned wellie boots and trudged half-a-mile up a Borders hill to tie the knot on Tuesday, writes Andrew Keddie.
And Andrew Robertson and Jane Fraser had more than one reason for selecting Hillhead above Stow for their big day.

They chose a spot next to a cairn which marks the grave of Andrew’s uncle Dave “Bun” Cunningham, who died in a climbing accident in Glencoe in July 2006. The ashes of Andrew’s gran Cath are also scattered on the hill.

“It meant a lot to Andrew to have the ceremony near the loved ones who could not be with us,” explained Jane, an occupational therapist.

“We also both love the great outdoors so we didn’t mind pulling on our wellies.

“It was a beautiful spot for our wedding, with the sun coming out during our vows.”

The ceremony was carried out by the Reverend Jim Wallace from Jane’s home town of Peebles, watched by close family and friends, including Jane’s parents Drew and Christine, and Andrew’s mum and dad Alistair and Barbara from Stow.

Andrew’s brother Stuart made the journey from Yorkshire to be best man, while the bridesmaid was Jane’s friend Joanna Beveridge.
