TWEED Valley Forest Festival, celebrating forests and wood, starts tomorrow.
Organisers Treefest Partnership say almost 4,000 people attended last year’s event. And the partnership’s Iain Laidlaw said this year’s nine-day celebration is shaping up to be “a fantastic event”.
“Our dynamic team of Treefest partners have pulle
d together to lay on a fascinating blend of indoor and outdoor events. Thanks to all the organisers, the festival should be brilliant so I’d urge everyone to join in the fun and get a real taste of the history and culture in this stunning part of the Tweed Valley.”
Highlights for this year include the third Scottish Conker Championship, a two-day Wood Market which offers a fantastic opportunity to buy wood products direct from the makers, plus spooky events and Halloween activities at Traquair House, Bowhill House and Kailzie Gardens. Two wood-themed exhibitions will run throughout the event which finishes on Sunday, November 1.
Other attractions include a bike skills competition, Peebles Food Festival, the Borders Big Tree Hunt talk and tour, moon watching and a children’s mountain bike event.
