A number of towns and villages across the region were devastated by flooding on Thursday night.
On Thursday night, one home owner in the Yarrow Valley felt the full weight of the elements when his cottage was flooded.

Dr Neville Morgan told The Southern: "The Yarrow burst it's banks and by 6pm the water was over the A707 at Yarrowford, it had completely filled up to the bridge, which is now out, and had backed up the burn, which flooded into the cottage.

"Fortunately the tenants had pumps or it would have been a lot worse. As it was the bathroom flooded up to the window, because the room is lower than the rest of the cottage, and the septic tank backed up with sewage filling the shower and bath."

SEPA was continuing its Flood Watch on the region as of 2am on Monday morning, with river levels in the south and west of the area particularly on the Jed Water, Yarrow Water and River Teviot, continuing to run high due to the heavy rainfall on Sunday evening and into the early hours of Monday morning. While rain was expected to ease, given the already saturated ground conditions, there could still be localised flooding problems in low lying areas.

Video footage of flooding in the valley was taken by Gordon Webster and is available to see at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cfx6TFOIkg
