PART of a popular walkway in Galashiels is to shut over two days next week for essential work on the route of the planned Borders rail link.
The Black Path, adjacent to Winston Road, will be closed from 6am-6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday as work is carried out on the Redhaugh Viaduct over the Tweed. A barrier will be in place at the Winston Road entrance and at Essen Drive in Tweedbank – other parts of the path will remain open.

An inspection team will be examining the bridge from underneath the footpath.

The viaduct – which once carried the Edinburgh-Carlisle Waverley line – will link the new line between Edinburgh and its terminus at Tweedbank.
