Hundreds of motorcyclists rode through Hawick at the weekend as part of the 10th annual Steve ‘Hizzy’ Hislop Memorial Run.
Wendy Oliver, of Denholm garage Thos. B Oliver, who has organised the event from day one, said: “It went really well. There were over 300 bikes at one point. It is the 10th year, so lots of folk made an effort.”
Originally organised to help raise funds for two statues of Steve to be erected, one in Hawick and the other on the Isle of Man where Steve lived at the time of his death, the ‘Hizzy Run’ has since become one of Scotland’s largest free motorcycle rideouts.
Wendy said: “Once we got the statues up, we started giving the money to different charities. This year it went to the Denholm church. We usually do a Borders charity and an Isle of Man charity every other year.
“It’s good for people to come and see the countryside; it’s not a fast run, it’s a memorial run for people to reflect.”
