Hosting the Scottish Borders Walking Festival last year was so successful that Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Clovenfords have decided to hold their own mini-event this year.
Volunteer organisers have set up the first annual Tweed Valley Walking Weekend, running from next Friday, May 30, to Sunday, June 1.
The weekend will offer 12 guided hill walks of varying lengths and difficulty in the local area, along with short instructional photo walks with Innerleithen professional photographer Graham Riddell.
Standard walks are priced at £7.50 each and photo walks at £15.
A short gentle “Walk It” outing also takes place next Friday in Innerleithen. And there will be school walks for the area’s primary schoolchildren too.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “It’s not just walks, though; the group has planned two evening events to entertain both locals and visitors to the area. People will have the chance to sample the quality that is Scotland’s national drink at a whisky tasting on the Friday evening, and dance the night away at a traditional Scottish ceilidh on the Saturday.”
Evening events cost £10 and booking is required for both walks and evenings.
The festival programme can be collected from any EAE leaflet stand found in libraries, hotels and tourist attractions in the Borders. For more information, visit www.tweedvalleywalking.com or phone 07845 122356.
