One of the best bits, in a day full of best bits – it’s the Standard Bearer and his Attendants, followed by a cavalcade of 374, crossing the Ettrick.

This time, it’s the turn of Kenny Firth, who kept the Royal and Ancient Burgh tradition alive in 1991.

He was following in the footsteps of his grandfather, ‘Cinny’ Henderson, who held the post in 1937. As Kenny put it afterwards: “It was out of this world. A day I shall remember all of my life.”
