Pupils of the new Melrose Grammar School are pictured, top, in January 1990 with bricks, featuring the pupils’ own designs, which were to be built into the walls of their new school building. The bricks are hollow, meaning that the children were able to use them as time capsules to leave to future generations.
On Monday, January 22, 1990, at 6am, Radio Borders took to the air for the first time. The Duchess of Roxburghe welcomed listeners via a radio linkup from London, before Danny Gallagher presented the first Borders Breakfast Show.
Staff and presenters, above, enjoy a well-deserved celebration.
