Jazzed to the Maxi
MORE accustomed to playing big arenas in London or doing sets for clubbers in Ibiza, Maxi Jazz hit the decks in the Borders on Saturday with a gig at Springwood Hall, Kelso.
The Faithless frontman topped the bill for the show and although it wasn’t a sell-out, those who made their way to the venue were definitely in the mood to party.
The task of opening proceedings was handed to The IPAS, who impressed the audience with songs such as Time Changes Everything and Keep on Running.
The Briganties of Berwick followed with tracks from their soon-to-be-released debut album Forever. The band certainly had their fans whipped up into a suitable frenzy with tracks such as DNA and the album’s title track going down particularly well.
The man charged with getting the crowd right into the party mood was DJ Dan Clark and spinning the likes of Steve Angelo’s Show Me Love, he was the perfect starter for the main course everyone had been waiting for.
Starting his set with 2Pac’s California Love and ending it with Dawn Penn’s No No No, Maxi Jazz played something for everyone, but it was one of his own tracks, Insomnia, that really brought the house down. The show was wrapped up just after 1am, but with their glowsticks still firmly hung round their necks, the gig-goers looked like they could have partied all night.
