Dogs, the circus and river tales in Hawick

Free events outdoors are lined up for Wilton Lodge Park in Hawick this month.

Tomorrow (Friday, July 11) the popular park will play host to the town’s dogs between 11am and 3pm, as Borders trainer Trudy Davison holds four 30-minute sessions at The Green, when owners can ask about obedience issues, their pet’s behaviour and learn how to build a trusting relationship with their dog.

Trudy said: “It’s not so much about enforcing obedience upon a dog but more about building a bonding trust with your pet, who just really wants to please you.”

On Monday (July 14) Let’s Circus holds a workshop for all would-be jugglers, clowns and performers, when two of the circus’ youngest performers, Duo Frinzi, recently featured on CBBC, will demonstrate aerial circus arts participants will learn.

The free workshop runs from 11.30am to 4.30pm on The Green.

On Saturday, July 19, from 11am-3pm, The Raiders of the Park series returns to explore the theme of raiders above and below the River Teviot with Tweed Foundation’s Kenny Galt helping participants discover more about wildlife in the river which runs through the park, and local RSPB’s Mike Fraser on the lookout for birds living there.
