MORE than 150 landowners, foresters, stalkers, farmers and others have signed up for the first lowland deer conference near Peebles on Monday.
Organised by the Association of Deer Management Groups (ADMG) to look at a coordinated approach to managing roe and other wild deer in southern Scotland and set up the Lowland Deer Network Scotland (LDNS). Speakers at the Cardrona Hotel event will include environment minister Stewart Stevenson, Scottish Natural Heritage chairman Andrew Thin and Forestry Commission Scotland director Dr Bob McIntosh.
ADMG chairman Richard Cooke hopes LDNS will provide advice and support, and act as a forum and channel for consultation on issues and policy for low ground deer managers. For more information contact Mandy Ferries on 01356 624566.
