Crime writer pencils in a Kelso date
BEST-selling crime thriller writer Quintin Jardine will be appearing at Kelso Library next Thursday, June 10, to help launch his new Bob Skinner book, Rush of Blood, writes Ciaran Matheson.
Motherwell-born Quintin will also be in conversation at the town's Cross Keys Hotel the following day (see listings).
"This is a great coup for Kelso and the Friends of Kelso Library," said Scottish Borders Council convener Alasdair Hutton.
"It will give local folk the chance to talk with the writer about his work and his latest book."
The twentieth in the series, Rush of Blood is described as "a complex tale of deception and revenge, which starts with what looks like the horrific suicide of a successful Lithuanian entrepreneur".
The incident arouses the suspicions of Skinner and his colleagues, who have crossed swords with the businessman before.
"Quintin Jardine has woven a complex tale of deception and revenge which leads Skinner and his people to a bloody encounter and a dramatic confrontation," added Councillor Hutton.
Next Thursday's event, where the author will also be signing copies of his books, starts at 7pm.
Tickets, priced at 5, are available at the door on the night, from Kelso Library on 01573 223171, or by emailing libkelso@scotborders.gov.uk
