Land managers and anyone using the outdoors is invited to an open information meeting in Galashiels tonight (Tuesday May 20).
The Scottish Borders Outdoor Access Forum event is aimed at allowing local groups, activity or tourism groups, land-based or water-based organisations, walkers, cyclists, horse-riders, canoeists, farmers or landowners to find out more about accessing and managing the land better.
A council spokesperson said: “Managing public access is important for a number of reasons. These include supporting the needs of communities; providing practical access to towns, villages and other areas; assisting our valuable tourism and recreational industries; helping to stimulate our local economy; assisting with environmental and land management issues; and providing opportunities for sustainable transport.”
The outdoor access meeting takes place at Old Gala House in Galashiels from 6.30-8.30pm. For more information contact SBC’s Outdoor Access Team on 01835 825060 or at: firstname.lastname@example.org
