Charity representatives received cheques totalling more than £2,600 from pupils at Kelso High School in January 1988. The school took part in a 50/50 fundraising drive, and realised more than £5,200, with half going to charity. Pupils from the school are seen here presenting a cheque to a representative from Cancer Research.
There was more fundraising success at Selkirk High School, also in 1988. Pupils took to the streets of the town to raise money for Comic Relief. Robin Elliot, Marni Collin, Mairi Harkness and Scott Nichol dressed up as Simple Simon and his piemen, selling their wares. The students were expecting to raise around £2,000.
