APPLE Day celebrated its 21st anniversary with a good turnout at Harestanes Visitor Centre at Ancrum, near Jedburgh last Sunday.

A spokesperson for co-organisers, Borders Organic Gardeners (BOG), said: “The sun shone, the apples were sweet and BOG, who organise the annual celebration of the nation’s favourite fruit with the Scottish Borders Council, signed up many new members charmed by the attraction of vintage varieties.”

The £210 raised, selling produce, cakes, jams and through the raffle, will go to BOG’s favourite charity, FarmAfrica.
