A mini-basketball festival for Borders primary schools was held at the Queens Centre, Galashiels, in May 1988. Eleven-year-old Robbie Cumming of Priorswood Primary, Peebles, aims for the basket, while his opponents try to keep him out.

In 1994, for the first time in its history, Selkirk FC fielded five teams. Here, Souters manager Jackson Cockburn presents the club’s many faces. The club was in an optimistic mood, running three youth teams, the two older ones having been kitted out with new strips, courtesy of the Selkirk Hibs Supporters’ Club. There were also around 30 enthusiastic five to 10-year-olds being trained at Ettrick Park, still too young to get a game in the under-13s.
