PEEBLES violinist Rowan Bell will return to his hometown to lead a string trio in the Eastgate Theatre on Tuesday night.
Bell, Maximilian Baille (viola) and Stefan Hadjiev (cello) – are members of the Vardanyan Quartet (pictured).

The quartet has performed throughout the UK, including at the Barbican in London, and for the last two summers has been invited as quartet scholars to Lake District Summer Music.

After hearing them in London, renowned conductor Bernard Haitink invited them to perform in his recital series in Switzerland.

Rowan grew up in Peebles and the current Douglas Downie Scholar at the Royal College of Music led many major youth orchestras during his time in Scotland.

He leads Scottish Connection – a professional string ensemble – and plays in the Arthas Ensemble, a string quintet/sextet led by BBC New Generation Artist Jennifer Pike.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £10. Schoolchildren are admitted free. To book, or for more information, call 01721 725777.

The performance is supported by the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund by kind arrangement with the Lake District Summer Music School.
