"Tunes so raw they should carry a Salmonella warning," is how Judge Jules once described one of trance and house music orientated setlists.
But the chances of the Radio One DJ appearance at Galashiels’ Move Music Venue going egg-shaped are as slim as the discs he spins.

The Ministry of Sound regular will headline Hard Kandy’s Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, as part of a exhaustive schedule for the 42-year-old this summer.

He will make 18 club appearances in July alone, and will be whisked off to Dunfermline immediately after his Galashiels set for another performance on the same night.

Judge Jules’ set at Move, organised by Hard Kandy founder Clarkie Millar, will be his first gig in the Borders since playing at Selkirk’s Victoria Halls in 2005.

Clarkie, aka DJ Art Newman, dreamed up the club nights while spinning records in the garage of his former home in Galashiels.

He said: “The club nights started to give people who like to go out dancing a chance to see some of the biggest names in the music industry on their own doorstep, but what is special about Move is that those ravers can get up close and personal with Julesy – most of them will only have heard him through their radio.”

Clarkie, who was playing at a new Hard Kandy night in Magaluf with Brandon Block last week, added: “It will undoubtedly be the hottest party of the summer.

“Hard Kandy has already given Gala some of the biggest names in the hardcore club scene – including Dream Frequency, Bass Generator, and Mallorca Lee, but – no disrespect to them – Judge Jules is on a different planet.”

Clarkie will also perform a set on the night, alongside Robbie Riot and Ally McGilvray.

Tickets are priced at £11, and are available from Guess What, Galashiels; Spence’s, Hawick; The Fleece, Selkirk; Brown Newsagents, Kelso; or by visiting www.borderevents.com/boxoffice

However, we have a pair of tickets to giveaway for next Saturday’s gig. To enter, answer this question.
