THE combination of June Tabor's deep, resonant voice and her commitment to British folk music has made her one of the most critically acclaimed singers of her generation.
And Eastgate Theatre will welcome the former librarian and restaurateur next Thursday, November 5, for a one-off performance.

Having idolised the likes of Cliff Richard, Martin Carthy and Anne Briggs in her early years, June recorded her first solo album in 1976 entitled Airs and Graces, which received acclaim.

But she continued to work outside music until 1987 when June devoted all her time to songmaking.

As an interpreter of contemporary songs, her style is instantly recognisable and her voice has been described by Elvis Costello as a ‘remarkable instrument’.

Tickets for June Tabor cost £14 (£12) and are available by phoning 01721 725777. The show begins at 7.30pm.
