So Candleberry, so-called developers of the former St Mary's West Church site, have found another excuse to delay removing Selkirk's eyesore.
Why bother appealing if, as spokesman Kanak Bose was reported as saying in last week's Selkirk Weekend Advertiser, they intend to start work in "the next two or three weeks". We have heard that before!
The people of Selkirk are sick and fed up with the excuses and time wasting of Candleberry. It is time the owners came out into the open and declared their intentions.
So, I invite whoever owns the site to answer these few simple questions:
1. Who owns the St Mary's West site – company name and directors, please?
2. When will this site be made safe and this eyesore removed?
3. Which other development sites do they, or their associates, own in and around Selkirk?
4. What plans do they have for these other sites?
The people of Selkirk deserve some answers. I therefore challenge a representative of Candleberry to stop hiding behind excuses and anonymity and answer these questions, either through this newspaper or by attending the next meeting of Selkirk Community Council.
Is that too much to expect?

Today's Vote

Do you think Borderers are doing enough about the controversial proposals to our Post Offices?
Yes: we can have our say at the public meetings and lobby our MPs and MSPs
No: we really need to stand up and let the Government know that these cuts won't be tolerated
No sure
