I read with great amusement the letter from Merlyn Horn, Lilliesleaf on the fear of running out of loo paper during the recent heavy snowfalls. (January 14).
I can recall in the war as a very young child, being made to cut newspapers into small squares to take the place of loo rolls.

Perhaps your correspondent will keep a stock of old newspapers in case we get a further bout of heavy snowfall!
