Framed in Time
This week we turn our gaze on our fellow Borders newshounds, with a flashback almost a quarter of a century ago.
BBC Radio Tweed was first set up in 1983, the year prior to this photograph. The caravan in question was gloriously termed as the station's outside broadcast unit and seen here helping it make its public debut were then staff members, from left, Andy Jones, Colin Wight, Elizabeth Irvine, senior producer Caroline Adam and John Ferguson.
They were soon joined by Bob Burgess, now a senior reporter on TheSouthern, who vividly remembers maintenance on the so-called 'outside broadcast unit'.
"I got the job of painting it," Bob told Framed in Time. "It was jokingly referred to as the outside broadcast unit, but we actually didn't have the equipment then to do outside broadcasts.
"What we did use it for was taking it along to events like the Border Union Show to fly the flag for the station."
