Walking my labrador and new puppy on a quiet country road, I saw a fox run across the single track, bolting into a densely-wooded area.
I soon discovered why – a hunting horn sounded and I could hear hounds howling. They were coming closer and closer to the road I was on.
I was terrified that the hounds would go for my puppy or elderly dog, and I prayed they’d lose the scent of the fox, whose terror I could totally identify with in that moment. Thank God, that’s what happened.
