The mainstream political parties conveniently forget that for every £1 British taxpayers send to the unelected EU Commission, the commission gives 50p away to other countries and returns 30p it to us with conditions, with 10p to cover its costs.
The EU Parliament produces no government, merely obeys orders and rubber-stamps the commission’s laws.

I notice Mr P. J. Lewis (letters, June 18) has to regurgitate the Tory line “to be in Europe, but not ruled by Europe”.

One day, by understanding how the EU functions, he’ll find out that is impossible.

(list candidate for the UK Independence Party)
