Scottish blues icon Tam White is a favourite among Borders music lovers. His prolific career has spanned half a century and includes hit TV and film appearances and a list of collaborations that reads like a who's who of the UK blues scene.
Over the years, the blues supremo has played with the likes of James Taylor, Van Morrison and B.B. King.
The 1960s saw him recording with The Boston Dexters and, later, The Buzz, and over the years he has played worldwide, with more recent dates including Ronnie Scott's and the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, as well as various venues in the Borders.
Some may know him as the voice behind Robbie Coltrane's Big Jazza in the BAFTA award-winning TV series, Tutti Frutti. Others may recall his role as the chief of Clan MacGregor in Mel Gibson's Braveheart or alongside Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island.
The keen-eyed may even remember him as Tony Macrae, the man who discovered Barry Evans's body after he was killed by his bride in EastEnders.
But Tam's first love is – and always has been – music, and next week he brings his latest set to Hawick where he will be next to step onto the stage at Tower Mill.
Beanscene's Mo Templeton said: "Tam's gig really consolidates the Heart of Hawick auditorium and its ability to attract major names to the area.
"I'm sure many will be keen to snap up tickets to hear one of the most acclaimed blues singers in mainland Europe perform in their own backyard."
Together with special guests The Set Up, Tam will perform next Saturday, May 17, at the Hawick Auditorium at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £12 (£10 in advance) are available in-store at Beanscene or online at www.beanscene.com/tickets
