This year, 60s folk supergroup Pentangle is celebrating its 40th anniversary and has enjoyed something of a comeback, appearing at various festivals and events across the country.
The band was formed in 1967 by Bert Jansch and John Renbourn and later completed by the addition of singer Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox and went on to worldwide success.

Since their break-up in 1973, there have been various attempts to keep the Pentangle spirit alive including the most recent incarnation, Jacqui McShee’s Pentangle, who next week appear at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles.

Fronted by the original vocalist and featuring the new line-up of Gerry Conway on drums, Spencer Cozens on keyboards, Alan Thompson on bass and Gary Foot on saxophone and flute, the band will bring a mixture of new self-penned songs, traditional numbers and jazz standards to the gig.

Jacqui said: “I'm really pleased we are playing at The Eastgate Theatre. I’ve always loved doing shows in the north – the audience is particularly warm and appreciative and we’ve had some great times in the Borders.”
