After more than 20 years of taking part in art exhibitions, Borders College lecturer Siobhan O'Hehir has finally gone solo.
More than 60 of her drawings, paintings and prints are currently on display at the Scott Gallery of Hawick Museum in the town's Wilton Lodge Park.
Her work has been shown all over the UK and Ireland, and as far afield as Hungary, but Siobhan says she's delighted to be getting her own stage.
She said: "It has taken about 18 months to two years to put the work together for the exhibition and I am really pleased with the outcome.
"My inspiration comes from the natural world and landscape. I would like to think there is plenty of variety within the exhibition which will capture the public's imagination.
"The response so far has been very positive judging by the comments in the visitors book, and I've already sold some of my paintings – which is always a good sign."
Now based in Ancrum, Siobhan has been an artist since her students days in her native Galway in southern Ireland and has gained both a BA in fine art from the University of Ulster in Belfast and an MA in fine art at Newcastle Polytechnic.
A part-time lecturer at Borders College's Hawick campus, where she teaches on the art and design BTEC and HND graphic and digital design courses, she has spent the last 15 years passing on her experience and knowledge to the next generation of artists.
Siobhan explained: "Interest in art is very strong and this year we've already received a good number of applications for next year's course, which is very encouraging for the future.
"A lot of the interest tends to be with graphic and digital design but there is also a strong interest for some students to go into fields as diverse as textiles and fine art."
Siobhan's exhibition, Land Escapes, is running at the Scott Gallery of Hawick Museum at Wilton Lodge Park until Sunday, May 25. Opening times are Mon-Fri 10am-noon and 1pm-5pm. On Saturdays and Sundays the exhibition is open between 2pm and 5pm. Admission is free.
