Rugby player and Aberdeen student Graham to lead Melrose festival
Graham Crawford was announced as Melrosian for 2012 at the Ex-Melrosians Burns Supper on Saturday evening.
STUDENT Graham Crawford has been named as this year’s Melrosian. The 21-year-old was confirmed as the 74th young man to hold the post at the Ex-Melrosians’ Burns Supper.
He follows in the footsteps of his older Brother David who was given the honour in 2006.
Graham, pictured, is in his second year at Aberdeen University where he is studying sports science.
His close friend and fellow rugby player Ruaridh Nairn was last year’s Melrosian and takes up the Right-Hand Man post this year.
Graham’s parents Ian and Catherine said they were delighted with the appointment which was only known to the close family before the announcement at Saturday’s supper in the Greenyards.
The Melrosian is the first of this years principals to be named ahead of a summer of common ridings, gatherings and festivals across the Borders.
