Police appeal after female jogger attacked in Galashiels

POLICE are hunting two teenagers who attacked and attempted to rob a female jogger in Galashiels last night (Wednesday).

The 22-year-old was running along Huddersfield Street in the direction of the town centre when she was assaulted at 8.15pm by the boys, who tried to grab her mobile phone.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: “There was a struggle before the female managed to break free and run home in a distressed state.”

The first attacker is described as 5ft 7in, 15 to 16 years of age with dark wavy hair and a thin build. He was wearing a black zipped hooded top, dark blue jogging trousers and white trainers.

The second youth was overweight and also 15 to 16 years old, with dark hair, black jacket, dark bottoms and a local accent.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
