Charity has help lined up for victims of child abuse
Your readers will be well aware of the Jimmy Savile story over recent weeks and the terrible experiences of the victims.
We want to make sure that everyone knows where to turn when they are affected by sexual abuse or are worried that someone else is, especially if the person they are worried about is a child.
ParentLine Scotland is the free and confidential helpline service run by Children 1st. We would urge anyone who wants to discuss concerns around sexual abuse in confidence to contact us on 08000 28 22 33 or by email at parentlinescotland@children1st.org.uk
Our trained call-takers have extensive experience in giving advice and support on this issue. As well as listening and providing emotional support, they can also provide information about specialist services if they are required.
ParentLine Scotland, which is part supported by funds from the People’s Postcode Lottery, deals with an average of 3,000 calls per year on a range of subjects. The service is not just for parents, but also for kinship carers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings or anyone with a concern for a child.
The helpline is open Monday-Friday (9am-10pm) and at weekends (noon-8pm).
