AT St Boswells Mart on Monday John Swan Ltd sold 90 clean cattle, 65 OTM cattle, 2,253 spring lambs and 572 ewes.

Bullocks (49) averaged 205.6p per kg, (+3.2p on the week). Heifers (33) averaged 204p per kg (+4.0p on the week) and eight young bulls averaged 204.3p per kg (+26.3p on the week).

The 65 beef-type OTM cattle aveaged 144.8p per kg (nc on the week).

The 2,253 spring lambs averaged 198.6p per kg (+10.3p on the week) including 1,505 38-41kgs averaging 201p and 572 ewes averaged £80.22 (+ £3.96 on the week).

AT their weekly Primestock Sale held at Wooler last Wednesday John Swan Ltd had forward and sold 1,164 lambs, nine hoggs and young sheep and 172 ewes.

Large numbers curtailed by the elements, weather beating vendors who braved them were rewarded with unprecedented returns again a full ring of buyers were in operation. Average 204.3p.
